DEFECT #1 - STEERING:LINKAGES

Description
The involved vehicles contain defective ball studs that were improperly heat-treated and thus contain cracks. These studs, located in the pitman arm, could eventually fracture in the threaded portion under the retaining nut.
Consequence
Corrective Action
The dealer will replace the defective pitman arm ball stud with a new one, without charge.

Tilt cab.manfd 1-1 thru 3-9 1972.possibility that welds attaching steeringshaft to lower yoke may be below acceptable standards of quality.althoughbroken welds will not effect steering, it could partially pull steering shaftout of lower yoke when cab is in full tilt position.this could onlyhappenwhen vehicle is parked.(correct by inspecting and replacing parts wherenecessary.)
