This Flashback takes us to mid May 1975 .We see Hazzard Range County sheriffs office Deputy Dan Brice and Sergeant Jim Hollysen recovering a stolen vehicle found abandoned along Pantano rd ,
The vehicle belongs to the US Army so might have been a joy ride by local teenagers' or maybe link anti-war movement or even resentment feelings towards the US government over the centuries county has seen with disagreements and deeds US government has done ,Suspects were never found and only thing done to the car was it ran out of fuel . It was left idling outside of Drop Laundry in Sparta a good 30 miles north of here .

Fast forward to 2024
Drop Laundry is now called Water laundry Deputy Brice worked for the sheriff's office from Dec 1968 -to June 1975 . Left for another job in AZ . He passed away in 2011 . Sergeant Jim Hollysen worked for the sheriff's office from Nov 1966 to April 1986 when he ran for Sheriff and lost . He went on to work for neighboring county of Sweetwater for 10 years now retired and lives in northern NM .

DEFECT #1 - ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN

Description
Some of the flexible five-blade engine cooling fans may be subject to high blade stresses that can result from resonant vibration inputs occurring during normal vehicle operation.  This can result in the blades cracking due to fatigue, and portions of the blade may separate from the fan assembly without prior warning.

Consequence


Corrective Action
Dealer will replace defective fan with one of an improved five-bladed design, without charge to owner.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with 351w cid engines and airconditioning.system: engine cooling; fan.consequences of defect: blade portions propelled from a rotating fan may damageunderhood components and cause personal injury to bystanders if the hood isopen.

Ford campaign no h-7b.possibility that there is insufficient clearancebetween the front fender aprons and the front brake tubes.this conditioncould permit the fender aprons to contact and shape the brake tubes.if notcorrected the tube may wear through resulting inloss of front wheel braking.(correct by inspecting and adjustto provide sufficient clearance.)

Ford campaign no h-ob.possibility that the 2v carburetor used on 302, 351 and400cid engines with automatic transmission may have misalignment between thetransmission linkage lever and adjusting screw assembly and the throttle levertab.if condition exists, it may cause contact between the screw threads andthe edge of the throttle lever tab and cause throttle to stick in an openposition.(correct by inspecting and realigning linkage where necessary).

Ford campaign no h-5c.equipped w/429-4v engines.possibility that carburetormay leak fuel from around power valve restrictor plug.if condition exists,could drain fuel bowl during engine shutdown and result in delayed starting.there is also possibility of fumes from leaking fuel which could be ignitedshould spark occur.(correct by inspecting and replacing where necessary.)
