DEFECT #1 - SUSPENSION:FRONT:WHEEL BEARING

Description
Under certain driving conditions, including extended severe braking, the wheel bearing area may encounter temperatures that can cause the grease to migrate out of the bearing area. This will reduce the amount of lubrication available to the bearings and result in front wheel bearing failure and spindle damage.
Consequence
Corrective Action
The dealer will replace the front wheel bearings and associated parts on all involved vehicles free of charge.

Hatchback only general motors campaign no 75-c-12.possibility the strength ofthe j bolt (hook) furnished may be inadequate in the event of a severefrontal collision when the spare tire is mounted on the rear compartment floor.if such a collision occurs.the j bolt could straighten to such an extentthat the spare tire and wheel may become loose and travel forward into thepassenger area of the vehicle, increasing the possiblity of occupant injury.(correct by inspecting and replacing with heavier duty j hook.)
