The "slash seven" development was an evolutionary change of the BMW 247 engine from the previous "slash six". The R100 models received a double disc brake in the front wheel. For 1976 to 1979 models the front brake was a pivot caliper ATE disc actuated from the controls via cable to a brake master cylinder under the tank. From 1980 models onwards front brakes were changed to a Brembo fixed caliper brake

This bike was described as a time warp, being with the same family since new and recording only 2008 miles, with concours winning potential.

This bike was offered at the British Motorcycle Museums, HandH Auction 2nd March 2019 selling for £5,625

DEFECT #2 - FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP

Description
The filler caps which have relief pressure valves incorporated may allow pressure build-up in the gas tank.  This pressure may be greater than the closing pressure of the float valve in the carburetor, which could cause overflooding.

Consequence


Corrective Action
Dealer will modify the gas cap to prevent pressure build-up, at no cost to the owner.
