DEFECT #1 - SERVICE BRAKES, AIR

Description
The involved vehicles do not conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard no.  121, air brake systems.  Due to the use of a load proportioning valve in the brake system, the brake activation and release time in an unloaded condition, may not meet the requirements.  In addition, a double check valve required on a two air tank system was inadvertently omitted.

Consequence


Corrective Action
The load proportioning valve will be removed and the system will be replumbed in order to meet safety standard requirements.
