DEFECT #1 - SEATS

Description
Three bolts which attach the sill that supports the base of the seat were omitted; therefore vehicles do not comply with fmvss 210 and fmvss 207.  Consequence of defect: in the event of a crash, the floor plate could buckle along the inboard side causing the seat pedestal to be imbalanced, and increasing the likelihood of injury to the seat occupant.

Corrective Action
Install missing bolts.

Notes
System: seat attaching bolts/fmvss 207 and 210.  Vehicle description: light duty trucks equipped with union city king steelbodies and driver/passenger bucket seats with a tilt pedestal.

DEFECT #2 - FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP

Description
Due to a manufacturing problem with the fuel tank filler pipe, the fuel cap may improperly seal the end of the filler pipe.  This fails to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard 301, fuel system integrity.  In the event of a collision, an improperly sealed filler pipe could allow fuel spillage.

Consequence


Corrective Action
The dealer will inspect and replace fuel caps on all affected vehicles without charge.

DEFECT #3 - ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN

Description
The fan blade, when subjected to high stress levels, can fatigue and break apart at the hub while the engine is running.  Consequence of defect: if breakage occurs while hood is open, a person working under the hood or near the truck could be struck by a blade part and be injured.

Replace engine fan.
