The car is based on the M Roadster, which is based on the Z3.
European models were powered by the S50B321 straight six engine of 321bhp until 2001 when it was fitted with the 3.2 litre S54 engine from the E46 BMW M3 with an output of 325bhp (in Europe).
The semi-trailing arm rear suspension was not modified from the M Roadster. The coupe is 2.7 times stiffer than its convertible counterpart, resulting in superior handling.
