DEFECT #1 - UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Description
Vehicle description: motorcycles. The screws holding the sidestand switch can loosen and fall out due to engine heat and vibration. If this happens, the sidestand switch would not function correctly, so it would be possible to ride the motorcycle with the sidestand in the down position.
Consequence
This condition would increase the risk that the sidestand could hit the ground during a turn, which could cause loss of control of the motorcycle.
Corrective Action
Dealers will replace the screws holding the sidestand switch.

Owner notification began march 13, 2000. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact yamaha at 1-800-962-7926. DEFECT #2 - SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:PADS

Description
Vehicle description: motorcycles. The front brake pad material could separate from the backing plate due to insufficient adhesion.
Consequence
If pad separation occurs, there could be a loss of braking ability with the front brake.
Corrective Action
Dealers will install new front brake pads.
