Happy trucks in semi-retirement

Happy trucks in semi-retirement

I have a habit of hanging on to my vehicles for their entire useful life. That could be a big problem if I didn't have a place for them to live after they reach retirement age. The thing is, after something is paid for why in the heck would you get rid of it? I bought both of these trucks new off the lot so I know the original owner and I know how they've been cared for and the maintenance they've received.

The black Suburban has become legend with family and friends since it comfortably hauls 9 and sometimes 10 people along with an equal number of weapons and a couple dozen milk cartons for targets. It's lovingly called the "Warwagon". Mud, snow and steep trails are no match for this 4 wheel drive monster and it's taken us to remote locations and back safely for a lot of years.

The Ford F250 and Northland camper haven't been together for a few years because the truck has been needed to move mediocre kids to college dorms and home again. However, it gets a break for a year so on went the camper for the summer. It's ready and waiting to head into the mountains for some relaxing weekends before the snow hits. The truck was barely off the dealership lot when my then 2 year old decided to break it in by peeing on the seat. For having such a little weener he sure squirted good. He's never lived it down. Yes I washed the seat.

The homestead in Manti wouldn't be the same if I pulled in the driveway and didn't see these two old friends. They don't get too many miles on them anymore since they're semi-retired, but they're always willing to head out on a moments notice. Oh and they're paid for.

DEFECT #1 - EQUIPMENT

Posted on: 2003-01-17
Description
Certain motor homes equipped with norcold refrigerator cooling units model numbers 1200lr and 1200rim with serial numbers between 700000 and 1008700 and manufactured between december 1996 and february 1999.  These refrigerators can experience low cycle fatigue failure which can lead to the liquid solution slowly leaking from the sealed, pressurized cooling unit through a small crack.

Consequence
If a leak occurs and the unit is continually operated, hydrogen gas may be expelled and can be ignited, resulting in a fire, possibly causing serious injury or death.

Corrective Action
Norcold will notify the customer and provide a replacement cooling unit free of charge.  Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact norcold service center at 1-800-667-3005.

Notes
Also, customers can contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4326).
