Aqua motel, West Palm Beach, 20041222

Aqua motel, West Palm Beach, 20041222

The Bad Boys trilogy is on Dutch TV this week. When I watch those movies again it reminds me of my trip in 2004 when I visited my friend in the US who was studying at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

We did a Florida tour, "money was too tight to mention" and we stayed in the shitties motels and hostels. Like this Aqua Motel in West Palm Beach, along the U.S. Highway 1. That place was cockroach g-h-e-t-t-o. 19 years later I still remember how that place smelled. The exterior of the hotel looks a bit extra rough because a couple of weeks before, a hurricane wrecked the state. I see it still exists today. This place is actually very close to Trumps Mar-a-Lago.

The red Pontiac Sunfire coupe was our rental. 4-cyl with a 3 speed automatic which drove like crap but we thought we were the Bad Boys in it. :) Good times.

We stayed a week in South Beach in a hostel on Washington Ave. I see that place is also still around: SoBe Hostel & Bar. It was $12 a night but no privacy whatsoever! Want to meet some of the craziest MF-ers from all over the world? Look no further. Booze and drugs. Drugs and booze. That place was wild but only two blocks from Ocean Drive. Young, Wild & Free.
