Designed and development by Walter da Silva and Frank Lamberty at Audi AG's independent high performance subsidiary company Quattro GmbH based on the Audi Space Frame and using an aluminium monocoque at a newly renovated factory at Neckarsulm, Germany. Officially launched at the Paris Autoshow 2006
Seventy workers at Neckarsulm hand build each vehicle which produces between 8-15 cars a day with a maximum output of 29 cars per day. Each car is measured by ninety five lasers taking 220 measurements to an accuracy of 0.1 millimeter
All cars are four wheeled drive. Introduced with a 4.2 ltr V8 32 valve engine
The 5.2 ltr FSI V10 was added in 2008 producing 518 bhp based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 unit
The V10 is recognisable by a more aggressive body styling and its unique road wheels

The first generation R8 was succeeded by a second generation for the 2016 model year

Description
Automobili lamborghini america llc (lamborghini) is recalling certain model year 2007 through 2009 gallardo coupes and spyders fitted with carbon ceramic brake discs. The stainless steel screws that secure the brake rotors may fail after being exposed to salty conditions.

Consequence
Failure of the securing screws may result in a reduction of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action
Lamborghini will notify owners, and dealers will replace the screws, free of charge. The safety recall began during november 2013. Owners may contact lamborghini at 1-866-681-6276. The manufacturer's numbers for this campaign are l71x-r.01.13 (model year 2007 and 2008 gallardo coupe and spyder) and l71x-r.02.13 (model year 2009 gallardo coupe and spyder).
