DEFECT #1 - EQUIPMENT

Posted on: 2014-10-10
Description
Strick trailers, llc (strick) is recalling certain model year 2009-2015 dry freight van trailers manufactured april 25, 2008, to june 5, 2014.  The affected trailers are equipped with rear impact guards using gusset part numbers 40033/40034, 43191/43192, 63133/63134 or 67046/67047.  The rear impact guards with these gussets do not meet federal standards for strength and energy absorption.  As such, these trailers do not comply with the federal motor vehicle safety standard no.  223, rear impact guards.

Consequence
If the trailer is struck from behind and the rear impact guards do not meet the required standards, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Corrective Action
Strick will notify owners, and the rear impact guards of the trailers will be reinforced, free of charge.  The recall began on december 5, 2014.  Owners may contact strick customer service at 1-704-436-2590.
