1991 Dodge Grand Caravan

1991 was the first major restyle of the Chrysler minivans, remaining on the K-car platform until the new 1996 models appeared in 1995. The extended length Grand Caravan and Grand Voyager had seven added inches in the wheelbase at 119.3" and 14 full inches longer in length, with added interior volume. Extended length minivans were built at the St. Louis assembly plant. The Grand Caravan had SE and LE trims, with the SE here starting at $16,175.

DEFECT #1 - SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:SWITCHES:BRAKE LIGHT

Posted on: 2018-02-09
Description
Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2017 dodge caravan and jeep wrangler vehicles.  The brake switches on these vehicles may malfunction, keeping the brake lights illuminated and/or allowing the vehicle to be shifted out of the park position without the brake pedal being pushed.

Consequence
Having the brake lamps continuously illuminated or being able to shift the vehicle out of park when the brake pedal is not pressed (and the ignition is in the run mode) can increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake switches, free of charge.  The recall began march 22, 2018.  Owners may contact chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.  Chrysler's number for this recall is u09.

Notes
Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
