The Jaguar F-Type is a two-seat sports car, designed by Ian Callum from the Cesar Pierib designed Project 7 and built on a shortened platform of the XK convertible and is seen by Jaguar as the spiritual heir of the E Type as well as the replacement for the XK range.
The car was initially launched as a Convertible followed by the Coupe version. The convertible was first revealed at 2012 Sundance film Festival, at Cineworld within Londons O2 arena, followed by its International debut at the Paris Automobile Show, with the F Coupe making its debut at the 2013 los Angeles Auto Show. With the Convertible going on sale late 2013 and the Coupe early 2014.
The F-Type uses an all-aluminium chassis, sound and vibration insulation is provided by the addition of a special underbody tray and engine mounts, and a double bulkhead between the engine bay and passenger compartment. The convertible roof is an electrically operated retractable fabric hood. Jaguar says by eschewing metal it can keep the cars centre of gravity low, while a Thinsulate layer means thermal and sound insulation is akin to a solid roof.
The entry-level model uses Jaguars new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine, produces 340 PS (250 kW; 335 hp), 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 161 mph (259 km/h). In the middle comes the F-TYPE S, with the same engine tuned for 380 PS (279 kW; 375 hp), a top speed of 171 mph (275 km/h), and 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. The top of the range model is the V8 S, with Jaguars 5.0-litre, 495 PS (364 kW; 488 hp) supercharged petrol engine.
The layout is front-engined , rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive for AWD models. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic with paddle-shifters offering manual override. In 2015, the F Type introduced six speed ZF manual gearbox to the V6 models. There is a mechanical limited-slip differential on the V6 S and an electronic limited-slip differential on the V8. The engine choices will remain unchanged for Coupé, but with the addition of a higher performance V8 R model producing 550 PS (400 kW; 540 hp) in lieu of the convertible V8 S model.

The F-Type underwent a facelift for the 2021 model year. It was unveiled in December 2019, featuring a redesigned exterior and dashboard, and simplified drivetrain options

Description
Jaguar land rover north america, llc (land rover) is recalling certain model year 2017 jaguar f-type svr vehicles built between february 19, 2016 and august 15, 2016.  Due to assembly corrections during manufacturing, the bolts connecting the rear lower control arms to the knuckle assembly may fail prematurely.

Consequence

Corrective Action
Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bolt that connects the rear lower control arm to the rear knuckle joint, free of charge.  The recall is expected to begin on december 19, 2016.  Owners may contact jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827.  Jaguar's number for this recall is j076.

Notes
Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
