Audis Q8 flagship SUV heads into 2024 with wide-ranging technology upgrades, an improvement in perceived quality, and a simpler exterior design.

Following the lead of the recently updated Audi Q8 E-tron, the German brand's BMW X7 rival is offered with subtle styling changes including matrix LED lights, smoother surfacing, larger front air intakes for a more aggressive look and a new exhaust system promising an enhanced engine note.

The most obvious visual tweak is the redesigned grille, which receives a new look specific to Audi's flagship cars, featuring vertical inlays with a brushed aluminium effect. Meanwhile, higher-trim cars get colour-coded body trim for a more minimalist look.

Description
Volkswagen group of america, inc.  (audi) is recalling certain 2023-2024 sq8, rsq8, q8, q7, and 2024 sq7 vehicles.  The driver's seat side air bag may have been improperly mounted to the seatback frame.  As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 214, side impact protection.

Consequence
An improperly mounted air bag may not restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Corrective Action
Dealers will inspect and reinstall the air bag as necessary, free of charge.  Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed february 16, 2024.  Owners may contact audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.  Audi's number for this recall is 69ga.
