DEFECT #1 - SUSPENSION

Description
Equipment description: gunite erie 2764-series brake drums supplied to holland binkley during 1999 and 2000 as part of complete axle assemblies. The brake drums are not compatible with steel disc wheels manufactured by hayes lemmerz international, inc. These drums bear date codes between 162 99 and 225 99, inclusive.
Consequence
This incompatibility can result in brake drum failure and an immediate loss of braking control and other risks of death or injury.
Corrective Action
Gunite will conduct the notification, inspection/repair/replacement program at no charge to the consumer. Consumers can reach gunite customer service at 815-964-3301.
Notes
Owner notification is expected to begin during october 2000.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact gunite customer service at 800-677-3786.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236). This is the expanded portion of the recall to include additional brake drums.
