Description
The brake assemblies do not meet the brake power and brake recovery sections of fmvss 121 air brake systems.

Consequence
The brakes may fail to provide adequate stoppingdistance in an emergency, resulting in a possible vehicle accident.

Corrective Action
Replace the brake shoes and lining with those that comply with fmvss 121.

System: brakes; fmvss 121.equipment description: 16 1/2 by 7 cam-actuated brake assemblies with carlislebrake linings designated mm nab9ml.
