DEFECT #1 - STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT PITMAN

Description
The pitman arm which mounts to the steering gear may not be able to withstand frequent, high steering load applications.  (such as repeated contact between the steering system and the axle stops at maximum right turns).  The pitman arm may develop cracks and mounting of the arm to the steering gear could eventually fail.

Consequence


Corrective Action
An improved pitman arm will be installed without charge to owner.

International harvester campaign no 74501.engines involved are v-8configuration.possibility that the throttle lever extension u bracket,which is part of the accelerator linkage, can override the throttle lever.ifthis condition occurs it will cause the accelerator to remain in partial openposition.(correct by inspecting and replacing extention u brackets).
