Twin rocks at Twin Rocks Cafe

Twin rocks at Twin Rocks Cafe

We couldn't resist stopping in for lunch at the very appropriately named 'Twin Rocks Cafe' during our road trip exploring amazing Utah, USA in 2015. The food was good, though we were just hoping one of those gigantic rocks didn't come crashing down !
Location is at Bluff, a small community at the junction of Hwy.191 and 163, not too far from the stunning buttes and mesas of Monument Valley and many other classic desert landforms. One of my favourite areas in the world.
Contemporary cars (right to left) include:
Jeep Liberty, Chrysler Neon, Toyota Camry XV50, Dodge Avenger/Stratus, ??, white lwb Ford Econoline van, blue Ford F150 supercab pickup, ?
Any comments welcome.

DEFECT #1 - POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT

Posted on: 1979-10-12
Description
On the involved vehicles, the park actuation support plates are defective due to their susceptibility to cracking due to improper heat treatment during manufacture.  As a result, fragments from a broken plate can become lodged in the transmission parking pawl mechanism.  This could prevent the transmission parking pawl from engaging when the selector lever is placed in the park position, or prevent the pawl from being disengaged from the park gear.

Consequence

Corrective Action
The dealer will replace the park actuation cam support plates, free of charge, on all affected vehicles.

Notes
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles and light trucks equipped with c-6automatic transmissions.system: power train; park actuation gear support plates.consequences of defect: if the vehicle is placed in the park mode without theparking brake engaged, the parking pawl may not engage the park gear and thevehicle would be allowed to roll free causing property damage and personalinjuries.
