DEFECT #1 - STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR

Description
An incorrectly heat treated bolt and non-locking nut was installed to secure the joint between the steering column and the steering sector of some motor homes.

Consequence


Corrective Action
The dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the bolt with one of sufficient strength and add a self-locking nut.

Vehicle description: motorhomes. System: steering; column bolts. Consequences of defect: heavy road loads into the steering system could causeloosening or failure of this bolt, resulting in loss of steering control and avehicle accident
