DEFECT #1 - EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Description
The involved vehicles fail to meet federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment, in regard to height mounting location requirements. The rear reflex reflectors exceed the maximum 60 inch height mounting location requirement. Operation of the vehicle in a bob-tail mode or parking in other than daylight hours may convey an incorrect perception to motorists approaching from the rear.
Consequence
Corrective Action
Dealer will inspect and install, if necessary, the proper components.

Description
The metal stiffener at the rear of the splash shield may become bent during servicing or by abuse. This can allow the splash shield and stiffener or one of its attaching bolts to rub against and cut the steering shaft.
Consequence
Corrective Action
The splash shield stiffener will be removed and the steering shaft will be replaced, if damaged.

Description
In the involved vehicles, the air pressure which is used to actuate the engine shutdown solenoid may be blocked whenever transmission fluid temperature exceeds 250 degrees fahrenheit.
Consequence
Corrective Action
Dealer will inspect and modify the air plumbing as required.

Description
Insufficient material thickness in the rear suspension lower spring seats may allow the seat to flex and break the seat-to-axle weld.
Consequence
Corrective Action
Dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the lower spring seats, without charge to owner.

Vehicle description: trucks.system: suspension; spring seats.consequences of defect: dislocation of the axle, within the confines of thesuspension u-bolts and hanger brackets could cause misalignment of the mid andrear axle. This could cause loss of vehicle control and an accident.
