Travis Pastrana is in the air as he chases down Tanner Foust in the Rallycross race held at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Sunday. Pastrana was plagued by overheating problems and did not finish the race, leaving Foust the opportunity for his second Rallycross victory.

DEFECT #1 - STEERING:RACK AND PINION

Description
A protective boot covering the steering rack and pinion shaft can come loose in extreme cold.  When unprotected, the rack shaft may corrode, resulting in hard or stiff steering.

Consequence


Corrective Action
Securing clips will be installed on protective boot covers and affected steering rack shafts will be repaired or replaced, if necessary.

DEFECT #2 - SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:RECLINER

Description
The internal seatback frame structure may break and separate from the seat.

Consequence


Corrective Action
The drivers seatback frame will be replaced with a modified seatback frame at no charge.  The upholstery material and any repairs to the other seats are not included.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles.system: interior systems; seatbacks.consequences of defect: this separation or breakage can result in twisting orrearward leaning of the seatback thus potentially reducing the support to thedrivers upper torso.  If the separation occurs while the vehicle is in motion,the driver may lose control or visibility, and an accident may result.

DEFECT #3 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Description
The defect involves the 25 amp headlight fuse holder.  There may be excessive electrical resistance caused by the looseness of the rivet holding the fuse holder to the terminal plate.  Excess resistance may cause the soldered end of the fuse to melt.  An open circuit could occur and the headlights would not operate.

Consequence


Corrective Action
Dealer will replace the headlight fuse holder with an inline fuel harness kit.

Notes
Vehicle description: passenger vehicles.system: lighting and communications; headlamp fuse holder.consequences of defect: headlights may suddenly go out.  If the light failurewere to occur at night while vehicle is in motion, a vehicle crash couldpossibly result.

DEFECT #4 - VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:LINKAGES

Description
When wiper blades are frozen to the windshield and the wiper motor is turned on, the right-hand wiper pivot may become bent.  The plastic bearing, which is a snap-on device fitting over the ball joint on the drive motor, may pull off the ball, disengaging the wiper system, making both wipers inoperative.

Consequence


Corrective Action
Dealer will install a newly designed master link in the windshield wiper system without charge to owner.
