Description
The school bus chassis failed the fmvss 301 crash barrier test when a return fuel hose was severed, resulting in a fuel loss greater than the amount allowed by the standard.

Consequence
The school bus chassis does not meet the requirements offmvss 301.  Also, spilled fuel can result in a fire when exposed to a sourceof ignition.

Corrective Action
Lengthen and reroute the fuel return hose.
