DEFECT #1 - STEERING:WHEEL AND HANDLE BAR

Description
Misalignment between the steering column assembly and the gear box.
Consequence
Excessive misalignment can lead to steering failure andloss of steering control.
Corrective Action
Requires removing old steering column and replacing with new designed column.

Description
The air starter control valve is equipped with a manual override push-button which bypasses the normal neutral safety interlock and is not in compliance with federal motor vehicle safety standard 102, transmission shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect.
Consequence
Corrective Action
Air starter control valve will be removed if it is equipped with a manual override push-button feature and will be replaced with one that does not contain this feature.

Description
Some buses may have misalignment of the steering column assembly and the gear box.
Consequence
Corrective Action
Replacement of the lower jacket tube bearing, steering mounting bracket, and possibly the wheel tube.
