Cranelet!

Cranelet!

In 2011, I was fortunate to be able to work at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge, England on the Great Crane Project, which was a truly memorable and rewarding experience.

In brief, this consisted of hand rearing chicks of the Common Crane (Grus grus), the eggs of which had been collected in Germany by members of the team. We wore "crane suits" and fed the chicks with moulded and painted plastic "crane heads", in order to keep the chicks wild and unaccustomed to humans as eventually, they would be released onto the moors in Somerset as part of a UK conservation and reintroduction program.

This is one of the chicks from the 2011 Crane School. They were simply adorable, especially when they got to this ear tuft stage.

I am not sure which individual this was, but I hope he/she is thriving out on the moors in Somerset.

DEFECT #1 - EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS

Posted on: 2002-09-05
Description
On certain tag and pusher axle assemblies purchased from ridewell, the axle assemblies have an actual weight rating less than that specified on the label and therefore fail to comply with the requirements of part 567.5, certification.

Consequence
Loading the tag/pusher axle to the gawr label rating or loading the vehicle to the gvwr label rating will cause the pusher/tag axle to be overloaded.

Corrective Action
Crane will provide owners with replacement vehicle certification labels and installation instructions.  Owner notification began october 4, 2002.  Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact crane at 1-918-832-7333.
