DEFECT #1 - SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPER

Description
Vehicle description: motor home chassis.  The rear brake caliper can contact the spring seat as the brake pads wear.

Consequence
This can result in reduced braking increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Corrective Action
Dealers will install offset u-bolts to provide additional clearance between the brake caliper and the spring seat.

Notes:owner notification is expected to begin september 5, 1997.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact freightliner at 1-503-735-8682.  Also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
