DEFECT #1 - SUSPENSION:FRONT

Description
Vehicle description: transit buses with drive axle equipped with drum brakes only.  The design of the differential cross-member reinforcement can crack under certain applications.

Consequence
This condition could reduce the steering capability making it difficult for the driver to do accurate turns.

Corrective Action
Dealers will install two other reinforcements to solidify the cross-member assembly.

Notes
Owner notification began december 10, 1997.  Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact prevost at 1-418-883-3391.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

DEFECT #2 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION

Description
The positive wire connected to post #1 on the starter solenoid could contact the ground wire on the solenoid (post #2) and create a short circuit.

Consequence
This condition can cause a short circuit and result in a possible fire.

Corrective Action
Dealers will inspect and replace the cables changing the cable position.
