DEFECT #1 - FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

Description
Vehicle description: motorcycles.  The fuel hose from the fuel filter to the throttle assembly can rub against the bottom of the fuel pump plate and develop a leak.

Consequence
Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.

Corrective Action
Dealers will replace the fuel hose with a molded hose that curves away from the fuel pump plate.  Also, a new bracket and grommet will be added to hold the new hose in position.  The fuel return hose will also be replaced.

Owner notification began december 2, 1999.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact kawasaki at 1-949-770-0400.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
