DESCRIPTION:
A reserve SKFR engine during the 2023 Kids Day event at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds on June 3, 2023. Unfortunately not a great view because it was behind a SKFR fire prevention van. Image quality was not the best because I don't like using the flash but my camera really wants to.

DEFECT #1 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR

Description
Vehicle description: fire truck chassis with caterpillar 3126 engines.  The alternator cable was routed over the top of the alternator, and in some cases, allowed the cable to make contact with and wear on structural members of the engine enclosure.

Consequence
This could wear a hole through the insulation causing a short circuit and possibly an engine fire.

Corrective Action
Dealers will re-route the alternator cable routing.  Owner notification began december 17, 2001.  Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact pierce at 1-888-974-3723.
