The BMW G20 (Saloon) and G21 (Estate) is the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series. Designed by Alexey Kezha and Marc Michael Markefka the G20 was unveiled at the 2018 Paris Salon for the 2019 model year. The G20 3 Series is based on the Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform and features increased use of high-strength steel and aluminium with MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, and a hydraulic damping system. The G20 has a flat and covered underbody which significantly reduces drag and is 55kg (121lbs) lighter than its predecessor. The 320d, 320i, 330d, 330i and M340i are available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (xDrive) variants.

A facelift (LCI) was announced in May 2022 for the seventh generation BMW 3 Series the updated model has new front and rear bumpers, new headlights and a slightly tweaked grille. The headlights have a new "inverted L shape" DRL signature (that is now standard on all models) and the top Laserlight option is replaced by new adaptive LED units with matrix high beam functionality.[33] The grille maintains its overall proportions while the bumper gets new designs for both the base version and the M Sport package. Both feature new side air curtains, while the latter has a larger central intake (although part of it serves for design purposes only) and more aggressive styling.

Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2000-2005 323it, 325it, 325xit, 320i, 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 330i and 330xi and 2000-2006 323ci, 325ci, 328ci, 330ci, m3 coupe, 323cic, 325cic, 330cic, and m3 convertible vehicles equipped with non-desiccated frontal takata psan inflators and pspi passenger frontal air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (psan) propellant that were used as interim remedy parts for previous takata recalls.  These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Consequence

Corrective Action
Bmw will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger's front air bag, free of charge.  The recall began february 13, 2020.  Owners may contact bmw customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Notes
