2021 International CE (Gasoline) #117-#118

Hilton Central Schools two only International school buses that they have. Weird that there is an emergency door on both sides of the bus, and there is half a window. makes no sense. Purchased along side buses 115-116 (Bluebird Vision Gasoline) 117-118 (International CE Gasoline) and 119-120 (Thomas Saftliner C2 Diesel). We were testing the bus companies, and Bluebird won.

DEFECT #1 - EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HAZARD FLASHING WARNING LIGHTS:SWITCH

Posted on: 2004-09-28
Description
Certain 2005 my international 3300, 4000, and ce school and transit buses manufactured between may 24 and august 17, 2004.  The left turn signal light and indicator light on the instrument panel may not illuminate during hazard operation due to an incorrectly manufactured switch contact that causes intermittent contact in the turn signal stalk assembly.  This results in intermittent left turn signal and indicator light operation when the hazard switch is activated.

Consequence
Intermittent light operation reduces the ability to warn other motorist of the driver's intentions.  This could cause a vehicle crash without warning that may result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

Corrective Action
International will notify its customers and replace the turn signal stalk assemblies free of charge.  The recall began november 10, 2004.  If parts do not become available within 60 days of this report, an interim notice will be sent to dealers and owners informing them that this recall exists.  Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact international at (we do not yet have a telephone number for this recall.)

Notes
Also, customers can contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
