DEFECT #1 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:BATTERY:CABLES
Posted on: 2009-09-29DescriptionNorth american bus industries, inc. Is recalling certain model year 2008 and 2009 transit buses manufactured between november 1, 2008 and september 12, 2009. The cable assembly that supplies power from the alternator to the batteries may have a defectively crimped terminal which could cause it to overheat when high current passes through the cable.
ConsequenceThis could result in component damage and a fire. This could also result in a loss of electrical power and engine controls which could render the vehicle stalled in a roadway, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective ActionNabi will notify owners and dealer will inspect and replace any defective cable assembly free of charge. The safety recall began on october 7, 2009. Owners may contact nabi customer service at 1-888-424-5844.
