The fourth generation C7 series Audi A6, was designed by Jurgen Loffler, launched early 2011 into the European markets and shortly after elsewhere. The new A6 shares its interior, floor platform and powertrain with the 4 door Audi A7 four door Sedan of 2011.

The fourth generation A6 had an increased footprint over the previous generation being almost 3 inches longer and 2.7 inches wider.

Engine choices a 2.8ltr FFi V6 petrol engine of 204bhp a 3.0 litre supercharged FSi petrol V6 of 300bhp and three Diesel engines a S4 2.0litre a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 in three states of tune and a 3.0litre V6 with optional seven speed dual clutch transmission and air suspension

The 4th generation received a mid-cycle facelift from the 2015 model year The refresh includes styling tweaks to the car's exterior, engine line-up, transmission and MMI infotainment system with faster Tegra 3 processor, Handwriting recognition, Audi connect Telematics with state of the art 4G mobile internet (and online updates for the navigation map), and advanced Matrix LED headlights. All three TFSI 1.8tfsi and five TDI engines now meet the Euro 6 emission standard

DEFECT #1 - ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM

Description
Volkswagen group of america, inc.  (volkswagen) is recalling certain 2013-2017 audi a5 cabriolet, a5 sedan and audi q5 vehicles, 2012-2015 audi a6 vehicles and 2013-2016 audi a4 sedan and a4 allroad vehicles.  These vehicles, equipped with 2.0l turbo fsi engines, have an electric coolant pump that can either become blocked with debris from the cooling system causing it to overheat or can short-circuit from moisture within the pump.

Consequence
A blocked pump or a short-circuited pump can increase the risk of a fire.

Corrective Action
Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the pumps, free of charge.  Parts are not currently available.  Owners will be sent an initial notification beginning on june 11, 2018.  A second notice will be mailed once remedy parts become available.  Owners may contact audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.  Audi's number's for this recall is 19n3/19n4.  Note: this recall is in additional to the coolant pump software update applied as a remedy under recall 17v002.

DEFECT #2 - AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION

Description
Volkswagen group of america, inc.  (volkswagen) is recalling certain 2013-2018 audi s6 and s7, 2012-2018 a7 and a6 sedan, and 2014-2018 rs7 vehicles equipped with basic seats (with or without heating).  Stress or wear of the body-sensing mat within the front passenger seat may cause the passenger occupant detection system (pods) control module to malfunction.

Consequence
If the pods module malfunctions, the front passenger air bag may not deploy properly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Corrective Action
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a pods system repair kit, free of charge.  The recall began november 29, 2018.  Owners may contact audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.  Volkswagen's number for this recall is 74d5.
