Defect #1: Non-powered Axle Assembly Malfunction (MFR Campaign: )

NHTSA ID: 15V838000 | MFR Campaign Number: Posted on: 2015-12-14

Description

Charmac Trailers Inc. (Charmac) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Horse and Cargo trailers manufactured March 16, 2015, to September 25, 2015, and equipped with certain 3500lb-capacity torsion model axles. The weld that secures the torsion arm assembly may fail allowing the tire, wheel, hub, and torsion arm to separate from the trailer.

Consequence

A separation of the torsion arm can result in a loss of trailer stability and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Charmac will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect axles, free of charge. The recall began on January 28, 2016. Owners may contact Charmac customer service at 1-208-733-5241
