DEFECT #1 - STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY

Description
Daimler trucks north america, llc (dtna) is recalling certain 2023 western star 4700, 4900, 49x, 6900, and freightliner 114sd vehicles. The tie rod clamps may have been improperly heat-treated, causing them to crack and allowing the tie rods to separate.
Consequence
Tie rod separation can result in a sudden loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will replace the tie rod clamps, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed november 23, 2022. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact dtna customer service at 1-800-547-0712. Dtna's number for this recall is fl955.

Daimler trucks north america, llc (dtna) is recalling certain 2022 fccc mt45g, s2c 106, 2022-2023 fccc mt50e, mt55, s2rv chassis, 2023 freightliner 108 sd, 114 sd, cascadia, m2 106, m2 112 fccc xcm chassis, xcr chassis, xcs chassis, thomas built bus saf-t-liner c2, and western star 4700, 47x, 4900, 49x commercial buses. The tie rod may be missing a fastener, allowing the steer arm to detach.
Consequence
A detached steering arm can result in a sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
The remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed june 2, 2023. DEFECT #7 - PARKING BRAKE

Description
Daimler trucks north america, llc (dtna) is recalling certain 2023 western star 4900 and western star 6900 vehicles. A defect in the inversion valve may delay park brake engagement, which could allow the vehicle to move unintentionally. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 121, air brake systems.
Consequence
Unintentional vehicle movement can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Corrective Action
Dtna will inspect and replace the inversion valves, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed february 27, 2024. Owners may contact dtna customer service at 1-800-547-0712. Dtna's number for this recall is fl992.
