DEFECT #1 - VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Description
Mack trucks, inc.  (mack) is recalling certain 2023-2024 gr, an, lr, and terrapro vehicles.  The engine may not return to idle within 2 seconds if the accelerator pedal position sensor becomes disconnected.  As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 124, accelerator control systems.

Consequence
An engine that does not return to idle quickly enough can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action
Mack will replace the throttle pedal and update the vehicle software, free of charge.  Owner letters were mailed february 27, 2024.  Owners may contact mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177.  Mack's number for this recall is sc0455.

DEFECT #2 - ENGINE

Description
Mack trucks, inc.  (mack) is recalling certain 2024 granite and terrapro vehicles.  The rear lifting bracket that attaches to the engine cylinder head may be insufficiently secured, which can allow it to detach.

Consequence
A rear lifting bracket that detaches while the engine is being lifted can result in the engine falling or swinging, increasing the risk of injury.

Corrective Action
Dealers will inspect and replace the flanged stud in the rear lifting bracket, as necessary, free of charge.  Owner notification letters were mailed december 9, 2023.  Owners may contact mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177.  Mack's number for this recall is sc0452.

DEFECT #3 - SEAT BELTS:CRITICAL FASTENERS

Description
Mack trucks, inc.  (mack) is recalling certain 2024-2025 anthem, granite, and pinnacle vehicles equipped with rolltek driver's seat assemblies.  The seat pedestal and seat belt attachment may have been improperly tightened.  

Consequence
An improperly tightened seat pedestal and seat belt attachment may not restrain the occupant as intended, increasing their risk of injury during a crash.

Corrective Action
Dealers will replace and tighten the seat pedestal and seat belt attachment bolts, free of charge.  Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed september 27, 2024.  Owners may contact mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177.  Mack's number for this recall is sc0469.

Description
Mack trucks, inc.  (mack) is recalling certain 2024 granite vehicles.  The gross axle weight rating (gawr) listed on the vehicle certification label is incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded.  As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 cfr part 567, certification.

Consequence
An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.  

Corrective Action

DEFECT #6 - SERVICE BRAKES, AIR

Description
Mack trucks, inc.  (mack) is recalling certain 2022-2024 granite vehicles.  The air tanks have an insufficient volume of air for the brake system.  As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 121, air brake systems.

Consequence
Insufficient air volume can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.  

Corrective Action
Dealers will add additional air tank volume, free of charge.  Owner notification letters were mailed march 14, 2024.  Owners may contact mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177.  Mack's number for this recall is sc0458.

DEFECT #7 - STEERING:LINKAGES:KNUCKLE:SPINDLE:ARM

Description
Mack trucks, inc (mack) is recalling certain 2024 granite vehicles.  The bearing journals may not be fully seated in the steering knuckle assembly, preventing the proper installation of the wheel end hub assembly.

Consequence
An improperly installed wheel end hub assembly can leak oil, causing the axle spindles to loosen or fracture and increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action
Hendrickson will inspect and replace the steering knuckle assembly as necessary, free of charge.  Owner notification letters were mailed february 2, 2024.  Owners may contact mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177.  Mack's number for this recall is sc0456.
