DEFECT #1 - VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2023-2024 gr, an, lr, and terrapro vehicles. The engine may not return to idle within 2 seconds if the accelerator pedal position sensor becomes disconnected. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 124, accelerator control systems.
Consequence
An engine that does not return to idle quickly enough can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Mack will replace the throttle pedal and update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed february 27, 2024. Owners may contact mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is sc0455.

DEFECT #2 - STRUCTURE

Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2024 lr garbage trucks. The reinforcing floor welds may be missing from around the passenger seat pedestal, reducing floor strength.
Consequence
The pedestal may buckle during a crash, preventing the passenger seat from properly restraining a passenger.
Corrective Action

Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2024 lr electric garbage trucks, equipped with electric horns. The circuit connecting the horn button to the horn is missing, making the horn inoperative.
Consequence
A vehicle with an inoperative horn cannot alert other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action

DEFECT #4 - STEERING

Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2024 lr vehicles. The fasteners that connect the power steering assist cylinder to steering arm may be loose or missing.
Consequence
The power steering assist cylinder may separate from the steering arm, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect and tighten the steering gear fasteners and install a new cotter pin, free of charge. Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2023-2024 lr garbage trucks. The wiper arm retention nuts may be loose, stripping, and causing the windshield wipers to fail.
Consequence
Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
