DEFECT #1 - SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:SPINDLE

Description
Axles may develop fatigue cracks in axle spindle that could propagate into a transverse crack.

Consequence
Spindle end failure and wheel separation could occur andconstitute a hazard to users of the roadway, bystanders and adjacent property.

Corrective Action
Replace axles with axles manufactured with butt weld spindles, rather than the original integral spindles.

System: trailer axles.equipment description: spindle trailer axles equipped with 20 or 22 inch 3 spokewheels.
